JD's recovery

My sister's best friend, Deanna's little boy (JayDee) has been in and out of Primary Children's Hospital all year. He has had Bacterial Meningitis four times now, with multiple surgeries. He seems to recover and then get sick a few weeks later and they again make the long drive up to Primary's from St. George. Meningitis is very painful and he hasn't recieved complete relief yet. He is still recovering at Primary's and has had a PICC line placed in which he is receiving TPN, he still has a shunt. Hopefully the latest surgery has closed his membrane so that the infections stops seeping in :(. When he was three years old he had his brain herniate threw an unclosed portion of his skull which hadn't closed throughout his developement. They did surgery to repair this but years later he is having recurrent problems from his BBB (brain membrane) not being completely closed, Here he is at three years old after his 1st brain surgery:

Now four years later he is getting recurrent bacterial meningitis which causes other complications like having his appendix burst (below):

This poor family has spent 58 days in the hospital and 47 at home this year. This is also a huge financial burden on them. My sister is having a drawing to give away a $50 gift card to target for anyone that donates to the fund. This fund was set up by my sister to help her best friend.
